30 Countries Memoirs – Belgium

Country: Belgium

First Visit: June 2007

Number of Times Visited: 1

Cities Visited: Brussels

Favorite Memory: We only spend one night in Brussels on our way through Belgium to France to do a tour of Juno Beach.  I must admit it wasn’t the most memorable country, but I do recall the room Alex and I had rented had a small balcony overlooking a square and we had a good time hanging out on the balcony drinking some beers.

Other Highlights:

  • Mannekin Pis is one of Brussels’ most famous landmarks, but it is really small. It is on a random street corner, and is basically a two foot tall statue of a little boy peeing, strange, but we saw it!
  • Brussels marked the end of the line for Tommy on our 2007 trip, as he headed off to visit family in Poland. After close to six weeks of awesome travels and hijinks, it was sad to part.  But the trip was definitely a smashing success and once in a lifetime!
  • Not sure if this really classifies as a highlight, but Alex and I did have to share a rather small double bed during our night in Brussels.
